During these first 10 months as your pastor, I have gotten to know many of you. And through our talks, I have grown to appreciate the heritage and history of Oak Grove. It all began roughly 128 years ago when the first church building, a wooden structure, was built at the site of our cemetery. Wow, how things have changed! Many of us remain disappointed in that our planned Easter sunrise service at the cemetery was shifted to the sanctuary. The clouds that morning, coupled with the drizzle and wetness, put a darkness upon our hopes. Yet, the anticipated joy in worshipping God at the cemetery lingers within many of us. Now, join me in looking ahead to Heritage Sunday on May 22nd. Let’s gather at the cemetery then to worship God and celebrate Oak Grove’s heritage. Also, bring flowers to place on the graves of the loved ones who have gone before us. Tents and chairs will be in place for worship there. The adult choir and children will sing. I will preach. And following worship, we will all enjoy fellowship with a catered meal.

Here is the schedule for Heritage Sunday, May 22nd:

2. 9:30 AM Sunday School and “new” small group study at the church
